The Buff Catalana is a bird noted for its hardiness. It is not well known in the United States but is widely distributed through South America. Catalanas come closer to being a dual-purpose breed than any of the other Mediterranean breeds.

Characteristics: Less tolerant of close confinement; active, vigorous, avoids human contact. Cold hardy and a frequent brooder; good mother and quick maturing.
